Samskaaram (Values for Better life)

There are 16 Samskaaras done to the Body(శరీరం) in Life. Below are some Samskaram notes to be followed for the Mind and Character (మనస్సు).

  1. Wake-up with smile, and Thank God for waking me up alive for one more day.
  2. Don't read, eat, drink, or touch anything, before bath.
  3. Wake-up early, mind works best with cold head shower. Read difficult subjects after early morning bath.
  4. Dress well for cleanliness, don't use smelly cloths. Wear not to impress, or compete with someone. Change cloths after coming from school.
  5. You should love the way you look. Don't use socks more than once in summer. 
  6. Pray to GOD everyday. Go to GOD's room before going for breakfast. Spend more time for Pooja in the evening and holidays.
  7. Sit straight on floor, with backbone straight while reading, no leaning on wall or bent back.
  8. Speak Shlokas loud, will get pronunciation properly. Any Shloka read with concentration, it comes by mouth in just few days.
  9. Wear bottu daily. Don't be ashamed of it.
  10. Treat God like a best friend, talk, share good/bad news, remember all the time. Build a relationship.
  11. Use God's name as much as possible during day, instead of words like Hello, Hi, oops, sorry, thanks, cool, awesome
  12. Entertainment is for pleasure, We need it for relaxation for short time only AFTER lots of work.
  13. Every object is in GOD form, never insult, or mistreat.
  14. Respect guests come to your house, offer seat, water, anything to make them comfortable first. Ask well being if their family members. Try to build relationship with them.
  15. Greet elders with 2 handed Namaskaaram (at least to Indians)
  16. Don't use bad words, ignore hearing them. Don't get into argument with people, who speak bad words, there is nothing you can achieve.
  17. After homework, put back things where they were.
  18. Concentrate on one thing. Eat, homework, TV, games, reading. Don't do 2 things at a time.
  19. Clean your own mess, before stepping aside. Take out eaten plate, used cloths, books, pens and toys.
  20. After your main work complete, see if you can do any help in the home for family.
  21. Use Telugu words like Amma/Nanna and common Telugu words. Respect mother tongue, speak when opponents can understand.
  22. When sitting on sofa, don't fold legs. Sit and walk properly, give space to others.
  23. When standing in front of elders, don't put hands in pockets.
  24. When leaving shoe anywhere, leave on to a side, where no one is walking. Put both shoe in-line order properly. 
  25. Leave cloths only for hanging in closet, or basket. Don't leave them on chairs or beds. Arrange books properly. Take care of all your belongings yourself.
  26. Before using new cloths or bought new items, thank God for giving strength to buy that.
  27. When going out, pray for a sec, to make day successful, and come back home safe.
  28. Don't put anything in mouth other than food.
  29. Respect elders, learn to listen more, than talk.
  30. Learn patience(ఓపిక) and tolerance(సహనం) when handling things, concentrate on main goal(లక్ష్యం), don't get distracted. Like Hanuman while crossing Sea.
  31. Be confident, react to problems with high confidence and high optimistic way.
  32. Learn to adjust what you have, and thank God. There are others who don't even have what you currently have. Grateful to what you have, practice gratitude.
  33. Learn to come down, and apologize when you have mistake. Don't try to argue on own mistake, that counts 2 mistakes.
  34. Leader is who encourages leadership in others, give hand to grow, allow them to reach you.
  35. Do not lie for self gain, always speak truth. Know the Bad, stay away, don't try to practice (It makes you slave, very hard to let it go later).
  36. Don't steal others belongings, whether it is small or big. Don't cheat others.
  37. The pleasure, happiness you get from bad habits is much smaller, until you realize good habits.‎ It feels happy when saying bad, doing bad, eating bad, harming living creatures, earning bad. See how good it is in other way, you will realize how narrow earlier thought was. Don't get attracted to bad.
  38. Put on devotional music daily. Kids will hum song, or sing lyrics, automatically, it builds interest. Ganesh and other devotional pictures around you. 
  39. Create your surroundings to help your path to future. Have supportive people around you.
  40. When talking about some person in front of others, use respecting words, no careless words, even when person is not there.
  41. Never say bad about Family members in front of others. If someone says bad or teases family member, defend it.
  42. If you are elder, never leave siblings for life. Care them a lot, no matter of rich, distance, ego. They are precious friends chosen to you by God. What would you do if God comes, and gives a precious gift, how long you keep it.
  43. Forgive mistakes, give a chance, until it doesn't repeat, and talk what bad about it. If repeated and don't accept it, better to stay away.
  44. It's much better to stay calm, when people argue out of ego and selfish. It's ok if they blame everything on you. You will have much better peace of mind, just pray God to have the same to opponent.
  45. Sometimes people want to degrade the talent you have, they are just jealous, want to pull you down. Don't think about what they say.
  46. Don't fall when someone praises you a lot, they want to take advantage of you. Just smile and move on.
  47. Stay obedient, think before coming to conclusion. There are lot of things to know learn than what you already have.
  48. Don't use bad words, try not to listen bad, skip. 
  49. Never shout on elders, even on angry. If you think elder is making a mistake, use soft words to convince.
  50. Know own anger, see yourself in mirror. Have control on it, don't make it to take over you.
  51. Don't touch any object with legs. Bow and ask to forgive if done by accident.
  52. Aim high, but don't complain on what you currently have.
  53. Don't tease the person who has less knowledge than you, help him. Don't envy/grudge on the person who has more knowledge than you, try to reach him.
  54. Do not kill animals, bugs, treat them like they need to be exist too, leave them in safe place. Try to avoid eating non-veg.
  55. Feed and water birds, animals if get chance.
  56. It doesn't matter how beautiful, clean, rich a person is. A person is most characterized only when speaking good.
  57. Watch what you talk, prepare sentence before say it. It hurts more than physical harm, when you say bad.
  58. Use respecting words like garu, sir when talking about elders. When writing use Shri in front.
  59. Do not use social media, blogs, browsing, until you have total control of yourself, what you are viewing, sharing. Learn ability/strength to know good or bad consciously.
  60. Don't fight with bad nature people, just keep away them slowly. It's hard to find and get close with good nature people, try hard for it. Your character builds based on parents, and people you talk to most. It's human nature to mimic others. Build character based on good people around you.
  61. Don't make friends with people based on their wealth/rich, style, bad nature. Try to stay away slowly, ignore them.
  62. Who is good and bad? Don't choose friends based on wealth or relative or sits next or praises you. Good character person is who cares, feels pain of others, respects, shares happiness, doesn't hurt, not selfish, and who is true devotional.
  63. Talk to parents a lot. Share everything with them. Ask many many questions, so it leads to a discussion.
  64. Care and love your surroundings, people, animals and nature.
  65. Think ahead, plan ahead, prepare ahead. It will be much interesting, and mind concentrates, if you already prepared. Like reading, knowing subject ahead, trip plan or any kind of goals.
  66. Be thankful to who helped you. Don't use them for self benefit. Don't hurt them.
  67. Read non-fiction books, autobiographies of great people. Read Bhagavadgita, Ramayanam books.
  68. Read shloka books, religious books. Even if you don't know meaning initially, you will get interest to learn meaning when its time.It's parent's responsibility to keep religious books available at home.
  69. Use timer, when playing games, listening music, and TV. Spend sometime without electronics.
  70. Try new things, experiment in finding things.
  71. Learn to look at clock for everything until you lose laziness. Disasters happen in fraction of seconds, which cannot be taken back. So value the time.
  72. Enjoy the current time, you never know what happens next. Use it properly.
  73. Do not fight with brother/sister, share it. Feel the happiness when sharing, see how you gave happiness to others. Learn to Donate what you have, at-least part of it.
  74. Parent should implement before teaching any to kids. Kids automatically learn pooja, good character, by looking at parents, not just by listening from parents.
  75. God sits inside body. Imagine he is sitting in stomach. Don't pump smoke, or bad liquids/food on top of God's head.
  76. Don't argue religion statements with other religion people. Just ignore them with soft words, if they ask questions towards teasing.
  77. Be strong and proud of yourself, your character, your family, your community, religion, and values. Never degrade.
  78. Don't joke on or criticize your family, elders, guests, and teachers. 
  79. Wash hands/legs before and after eating food.
  80. Eat with right hand, and fingers. Cut nails at-least once in 2 weeks, lot of germs live there.
  81. Pray to God before eating, and thank for the food given.
  82. Don't eat junk food, eat healthy food. It affects mind, and way of thinking. Health is most important than anything else, nothing can be done without healthy body.
  83. Don't waste food, there are lot of people don't even have what you are eating. Don't hate or use bad words on food.
  84. Everyone one makes mistakes, but its very important to learn from it, and not to repeat. Embrace mistakes. You should see yourself improved from yesterday.
  85. The things you do or listen or watch, 1 hour after wake up, and 1 hour before sleep are very important. They can spoil your sleep, and next day's mood. Morning 1 hour will guide, all day's actions, so smile and stay good.
  86. Bed is only for sleep, no reading or eating on bed.
  87. God is everywhere, he can even hear what you are thinking, everything will be accounted, careful with every action you do.
